“A simple life” is the debut extended play by Eventstellar, released worldwide through Sólir Music on March 6, 2017. The EP was produced by Graham Ashcombe, mixed and mastered by Einar Solheim & Graham Ashcombe between Skógafoss Studios in Reykjavik, Iceland and The Warehouse Zone in Dublin, Ireland.
With five tracks, A Simple Life explores themes of lost potential, childhood disillusionment and quiet rebellion against ordinary existence. Drawing from a personal sense of nostalgia, Eventstellar in this extended play reflects the internal conflict between creative dreams and the gravitational pull of a conventional life.
The opening track 1993, recalls a formative year through minimalist verses and a joyful chorus. It traces the early sparks of artistic vision set against the backdrop of limitation and fear. With clear references to the emotional terrain of youth.
The Joshua Tree follows as an instrumental homage to U2, evoking the band’s early influence through atmospheric textures and dotted eighth-note guitar delays reminiscent of The Edge’s signature style.
A Simple Life offers a stark reflection on societal expectations and the collective surrender to routine. Its lyrical tone oscillates between observation and lamentation, challenging the quiet brutality of lives lived without transcendence.
Red Hill Mining Town draws inspiration from both metaphor and memory. Conjuring images of inherited weight and fading dreams. The arrangement blends solemnity with resistance, rooted in the struggle to find meaning in a world that slowly strips away idealism.
The final track, The dream that never was is a sense of poetic resignation. Centered on themes of broken promises and fading echoes, it revisits once-vivid visions of unity, youth, and music, now dissolved into silence.
This extended play marks the beginning of Eventstellar’s recorded journey. It captures a moment suspended between personal history and artistic awakening, laying the emotional groundwork for the project’s future transcendental evolution.
